Better Living Through Chemistry?

A recent article from eHealth News caught my attention. When we think of stress, most of us think mental/emotional stress: stuck in traffic, deadlines at work, lousy home life, kids driving you crazy, etc. Stress, however, is any influence, internal or external, that causes or leads to malfunction. Examples of stress include fractures, muscle injuries, nerve compression (lack of chiropractic care), infections (parasite, bacteria, etc.), toxins, irritating foods, blood sugar problems, alcohol, drugs (illegal or prescribed), not eating according to your Metabolic Type. Of course, the list goes on and on. We must combat these stressors each and every day. The best thing we can do is rest/sleep, meditate, eat according to your Metabolic Type, and proper exercise. And be sure to eliminate all of the stressors that you are able to – one such example is in the article from eHealth News:

We often talk about the three types of stress, physical, emotional and chemical. The chemical stress on our bodies can be tremendous. You probably have a favorite laundry detergent. If they supplied a list of ingredients it would require a chemical engineering degree to decipher. It gets worse.
After your “whites are whiter than white” many people add more chemicals to their clothing by using a fabric softener. All these chemicals attach themselves to your favorite shirt and lucky socks.
Better living through chemistry? We’re not convinced. We think better living comes from less chemistry. Give some thought to the potential carcinogens, allergens and chemical stressors in your life. See what you can do to reduce them—improving your health in the process.

Bottom line: Try to avoid as many chemical additives as possible. That includes dyes and coloring. Look for a more natural, chemical-free detergent.
