CrossFit Testimonials

Darcy Maupin

CrossFit has changed my life.

Two years ago I was the heaviest I had every been, I was unmotivated to consistently workout and had a false sense of good nutrition. We hadn’t been to our gym in over a year and were contemplating ending the membership. With one last effort to try to get back on track with exercising we signed up for a class for Adventure Racing. And that’s when we met Carolyn and Nathan. Their main focus was to prepare us both physically and mentally for what ever physical challenges came our way. Their philosophy of “getting in shape” is far more global than any other personal trainer I have ever worked with. They weren’t just focused on the working out, but they also incorporated good nutrition and taking care of the body and mind.

This was our first exposure to CrossFit training. The high intensity, short duration method has given us the best over all results more than any other workout. There are no repetitive daily routines. CrossFit has what they call WOD’s (Workout Of the Day). It’s different every day which keeps you from getting bored and over or under using the same muscle groups. The other major bonus about CrossFit is the supportive and team atmosphere. In traditional workouts, I would only push myself as hard as I felt like working out that day. In CrossFit, you have a whole team pushing you as hard as you can physically endure every time. This style of workout has kept me consistantly working out for the last two years.

Since I started CrossFit I have completely increased my level of intensity that I bring to my game. I ran a marathon, cycled a hundred miles, and competed in Adventure racing and had fun while doing it. At 41 years old, I am physically in the best shape of my life. Thank you Carolyn and Nathan for changing not only my appearance, but my life.

I have been a Crossfit participant for over three months now. I love it. I didn’t know there could be an instructor so sweet, encouraging, lovable and absolutely perfect. I look forward to every session. Did I mention I hate exercise. Nathan makes the work outs a lot of fun and the results are wonderful. I can now stand up from the floor without holding on to anything or anyone. My mobility is 100% better. I enjoy the women I have met and work out with. In short I can’t say enough good things about the class and Nathan!

I am proud to be one of the original Crossfit Adventure members! Crossfit has been in my life since January 2009 and I’ve never been healthier or stronger. These workouts have the ability to break you down (in a good way!) and show you what you are truly capable of doing both physically and mentally! It is very fitting that Crossfit Adventure’s tagline is “Dominate the Voice Inside.” With Crossfit your toughest competitor isn’t the person working out next to you; rather, it is that little voice inside your head. Over the last two years I have learned to control that voice and have now discovered that I am an athlete! A big thanks to Carolyn & Nathan for their dedication to Crossfit and their ability to motivate and inspire each of us to be strong and healthy individuals!

An open letter to CrossFit Adventure:

Carolyn and Nathan,

Congratulations on your one year anniversary of CrossFit Adventure. I am very proud and feel blessed to be part of the CrossFit Adventure family. I have seen so many benefits of working out with you both over this last year. Obviously, first off is the intensity of the CrossFit workouts. I have been actively working out for all my life. Gym memberships, fitness trainers, and running have always been part of the regiment but I have never experienced the level or quality of my workouts until CrossFit Adventure. This kicks everything up to a new level. And every step of the way, the both of you have been there to coach, mentor, motivate, push, prod and cheer lead my progress. In a world full of personal trainers and gym owners, the both of you stand out as in the upper tier.

All of this would be enough but there is an excitement and energy at CrossFit Adventure, which makes me want to keep coming back, even knowing that this isn’t easy, baby. I don’t want to miss any of the action. The workouts, the music, the intensity, the laughs . . . each make the feeling of accomplishment at the end of a workout worth it.

Again, as if this would or should be enough . . . the people that are attracted to CrossFit Adventure are “the best”. Everyone is friendly. We all push, motivate and congratulate each other. I come to each class looking to workout but also looking to see familiar faces.

I have come to trust the direction that the both of you give me concerning exercise, nutrition, and overall healthy life choices. You certainly have never steered me wrong. And lastly, I come to see both of you as friends. I would never keep coming back, if I didn’t like the owners of a business. You are both good people and I wish CrossFit Adventure a long and very successful life (with me as part of the action).

When I found it took an act of Congress to get myself up once I was on the floor, I joined CrossFit Adventure!  What I like is the classes cater to people of all ages and abilities.  I am in a great class with women about my age and doing exercises that push me to get a little more fit each time I go.  There is strong emphasis on core strength, balance, and nutrition in addition to a lot of laughter.  I still have much more to accomplish but the journey through CrossFit is indeed an adventure!

What I like about the crossfit training is that it makes day to day life so much easier. When I started, I had knee joint pain and getting up from a seated position was painful  and cumbersome. The squats and all the other core exercises have strengthened my muscles so much so that I don’t even think twice when getting up from a chair or going up stairs. Isn’t this what exercise should be about? All the research shows that the type of exercise done at crossfit is exactly what one needs to age in good health. I am very grateful to the training at Crossfit Adventure and who would have thought exercise could be fun as well?!
